Terms and Conditions

Book Digest is a reading community built around books, cultural exchange, learning, and meaningful conversations. Through book clubs, workshops, events, and shared reflections, we hope to create a thoughtful, welcoming space for people who love reading, ideas, and connection. To make sure every participant can use our website, register for events, and join our community with clarity and confidence, we have set out the following Terms and Conditions. By browsing our website, registering for an event, subscribing to our newsletter, filling in a form, or using any service provided by Book Digest, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions. If you have any questions, you are always welcome to contact us. 1. About Book Digest Book Digest is a platform centred on reading, culture, learning, and community exchange. Our content and services may include, but are not limited to: Book clubs, English book clubs, family reading events, creative workshops, talks, online and in-person events, book introductions, reading notes, articles, social media content, newsletters, and other activities related to books, culture, learning, and community. The content on our website and social media platforms is provided for general information, event promotion, and community exchange only. It does not constitute legal, financial, medical, psychological, or other professional advice. 2. Use of This Website When using the Book Digest website, you agree to do so in a lawful, respectful, and responsible manner. You agree not to: Use this website for any unlawful, fraudulent, malicious, or harmful purpose. Interfere with, damage, attack, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to this website, its server, or related systems. Copy, reproduce, adapt, distribute, publish, or commercially use any content from this website without permission. Provide false, misleading, or unauthorised registration information. Post or submit any harassing, discriminatory, hateful, abusive, unlawful, or inappropriate content. Interfere with other users’ ability to browse the website, register for events, or participate in the Book Digest community. If a user violates these rules, Book Digest reserves the right to refuse service, cancel registrations, restrict access, remove content, or take any other necessary action. 3. Event Registration and Payment You may register for Book Digest events through our website, forms, social media platforms, or any third-party platform designated by us. When registering for an event, please make sure that your name, email address, contact details, payment information, and any other information provided are accurate and complete. Book Digest is not responsible for any missed event updates, registration confirmations, or important notices resulting from incorrect or incomplete information provided by the participant. Event spaces may be limited. Your registration is only confirmed once payment has been completed, the system has recorded your registration, or Book Digest has sent a confirmation notice. If an event requires a registration fee, the fee and what it includes will be clearly stated on the event page. Registration fees may include venue costs, materials, administration, speaker fees, platform fees, drinks, preparation costs, or other expenses related to the event. Book Digest reserves the right to adjust event content, time, location, format, speakers, materials, or schedule where necessary. We will do our best to notify participants in advance of any significant changes. 4. Cancellations, Refunds, and Ticket Transfers We understand that plans can change. At the same time, many Book Digest events require advance arrangements, including venues, materials, staffing, and limited-capacity planning. Unless otherwise stated on the specific event page, the following cancellation and refund policy applies. 4.1 Cancellation by Participant If you can no longer attend an event after registering, please notify us as early as possible by email, social media message, or the contact method specified for that event. As most events require advance planning and preparation, registration fees are generally non-refundable. 4.2 Ticket Transfer If you are unable to attend, you may contact us before the event to request a ticket transfer to another person. Ticket transfers are subject to approval by Book Digest. When requesting a transfer, please provide the new participant’s name and contact details. If the event involves food, children’s participation, special materials, or individual requirements, please also inform us of any relevant details. 4.3 Cancellation by Book Digest If Book Digest cancels an event for reasons within our control, we will provide a reasonable arrangement, which may include a refund, ticket transfer, reserved place for a future event, rescheduled participation, or another suitable option. 4.4 Event Rescheduling or Venue Changes If an event needs to be rescheduled or moved to a different location due to weather, venue issues, speaker availability, transport problems, health and safety concerns, force majeure, or other circumstances, we will notify participants as early as possible. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled event, we will provide a reasonable arrangement depending on the situation. 4.5 No-Shows and Late Arrivals If you do not attend an event, arrive late, or are unable to participate fully due to personal reasons, no refund or compensation will be provided. If a specific event has a different cancellation or refund policy, the policy stated on that event page will apply. 5. Event Participation Guidelines Book Digest aims to create a space where everyone can feel safe, respected, and welcome to share ideas. By participating in our events, you agree to: Respect other participants, hosts, speakers, staff, and venue rules. Respect different opinions, reading experiences, cultural backgrounds, and personal experiences. Avoid harassment, discrimination, aggression, threats, unauthorised photography, or any other inappropriate behaviour. Avoid sharing unlawful, hateful, discriminatory, sexual, violent, or otherwise inappropriate content during events. Follow safety instructions if the event involves crafts, food, children’s participation, physical activities, or any special arrangements. If a participant behaves in a way that affects the safety, comfort, rights, or experience of others, Book Digest reserves the right to ask that participant to leave, cancel their participation, or refuse future registrations. In such cases, no refund will be provided. 6. Event Safety and Personal Responsibility Participants are responsible for assessing whether they are physically and mentally fit to take part in an event. If you have any allergies, dietary restrictions, health conditions, accessibility needs, children’s special requirements, or anything else we should be aware of, please inform us before registering or before the event begins. Book Digest will do its best to maintain a safe and enjoyable event environment. However, Book Digest is not responsible for any loss, injury, delay, damage, or other issue caused by personal negligence, failure to follow event guidelines, force majeure, third-party actions, venue-related issues, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control, except where required by law. 7. Children and Family Events For family reading events, children’s workshops, or any event involving children, children must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult, unless otherwise stated on the event page. Parents, guardians, or accompanying adults are responsible for the safety, behaviour, health conditions, and personal belongings of the children they bring. If a child has any allergies, special needs, dietary restrictions, or other requirements, please inform Book Digest before registering or before the event begins. Book Digest reserves the right to ask participants to follow event rules where necessary for safety, order, or the comfort of others. 8. Photography, Video, and Event Documentation Book Digest may take photographs, videos, or other records during events for event recaps, social media sharing, website content, marketing, brand documentation, or future event promotion. We will do our best to avoid capturing images that are uncomfortable, overly private, or potentially misleading. If you do not wish to appear in publicly shared photos or videos, please let us know before the event begins. We will do our best to accommodate your request, but we cannot guarantee that you will not appear in the background or in group event documentation. For events involving children, Book Digest will handle photos and videos with extra care and use them only for reasonable event documentation and promotional purposes. 9.
